Research & development
RFTRAQ maintains a high level of continuous research & development (R&D) and has a growing patent portfolio, in particular:
- The continuous development of its wireless technology, applications of which include Active RFID Tags and Readers, asset tracking hardware and telecommunications devices;
- The development of engineering products, usually undertaken in response to client requirements for tag enclosures, tag carriers and tooling and machinery to enable an asset tracking platform to work efficiently;
- Continuous in-house software and firmware development
RFTRAQ has, in addition, relationships with 2 Universities and external academics supporting its Research & Development programmes.
The bulk of RFTRAQ’s R&D is ‘Applied’, responding to the demand from our clients for customisation or new products, whether hardware or software. For hardware, RFTRAQ uses its SMT (surface mounted technology) manufacturing capabilities to quickly ‘turn round’ designs, and thus accelerate its programme. 'New products' include 'processes' which must add value and be easily scalable.
RFTRAQ does undertake some limited ‘blue sky’ development.
RFTRAQ has applied for, or has received approval on, over 30 patents for technology and engineering products and processes applications in a variety of industries from retail to industrial manufacturing.
